The human hip is a common site of many traumatically induced injuries, including motor vehicle accidents, falls, and even product liability. The male and female pelvis differ in form, and these differences result in different kinds of injuries when damaged. An older woman who suffers from osteoporosis can suffer extremely serious hip and pelvic fractures from even the gentlest falls. And because the hip is also a common site for synthetic replacement, it is also prone to failures associated with poorly designed or installed artificial joints.
